Yukina and Kuwabara come in second place with 41 votes.
And trailing not too far behind is Keiko and Yusuke with 31!
I have to mention the write ins, because some of them are just so great.
There’s the power f/f couple of Shizuru x Botan, the classic non-canon but definitely canon Youko x Kuronue, surprising 2 votes for Keiko x Kurama, Koenma x Yusuke, which seems to be a relatively popular rarepair (there’s some doujinshi of them, even!) and my favorites:

Yusuke/Kuwabara/Kurama/Hiei quad (the ultimate Power Ship)
and
Kurama/Hiei/Yusuke (the ot3 of my dreams)
I find this sort of popularity test interesting. Multiple votes were allowed as well as write ins. 2/3 of the most popular ships were canon.
The reason why I find this interesting is that we, as a fandom, I think have a very interesting take on shipping. There’s few ship wars, perhaps some ship envy over certain ones(Kurahi… my beloved invasive species that takes over the whole yyh fandom, lol), but as a whole, we have a very “ship and let ship” mentality.
Why do I say that? It’s not just the lack of fighting, but the fact that, when the question was “who do you ship,” not “favorite ship” or “who is the best ship,” an overwhelming portion of the votes were cast for two canon couples, couples we actually see very little content for. I see more Hiei x Botan and Yusuke x Hiei/Kurama/Kuwabara than I see Keiko x Yusuke or Yukina x Kuwabara. I think this means we all ship them, as in, we agree with canon, but boy, when we wanna have fun, we draw other ships. In other words, we multiship. We’re not married to one couple and allow nothing else in. We don’t fight each other in shipping wars because we’re all shipping for the fun of it, even while acknowledging that our own ships aren’t canon nor necessarily should be canon.
At least, that’s my conclusion/terrible ill thought out musings.
Also, Kurahi… I love you… but how? Why? You’re not canon. Shoo. Let someone else shine for a sec you beautiful bastard.
I’m not mad! I just wanted to let you guys know how I do things 🙂 I get a lot of requests, so posting them the moment I get a message would flood my blog, and I like to keep the posting of doujinshi organized and evened out.
