I would have to say it’s a … weird yes? What I mean is, my stance on morality and “honor” has always been the same – that I have a set I typically adhere to, but find those things must be flexible and change with the situation.
Morality is messy, after all, and the meaning of honor changes depending on who you ask. I don’t believe in rigid rules “never do harm,” etc. There are times when doing a little harm to someone can be more moral than the alternative. Like shoving someone to get them out of the path of danger. My “morals” or sense of honor comes from trying to do the least amount of harm while trying to maximize happiness. But as anyone can probably guess, those aren’t simple sliders or bars you can fill with easily color coded answers.
It’s tempting to say, yes, I have a set of morals like try to stay honest, try to always take the highroad, try to be kind but not a push-over. But if the situation calls for it, I have no problem abandoning this “set” and substituting something else.
I think in that case I’m more like Chapter Black Saga Yusuke than anything. He didn’t want to kill humans, but when the situation called for it, and he knew he had no choice, he was willing to punch a human to death. I’d probably be the same. Once I realized there was no other way, I wouldn’t agonize over it or sit there and do nothing. I’d punch the guy till he stopped moving.
Thanks for the question, hope the answer wasn’t too strange, haha.
