(1/2) hello! im not really in the yyh fandom but im a japanese-american artist who was watching the drama unfold from the sidelines. just wanna say thank you for keeping an open mind. reposting & art theft are definitely one of the biggest problems for artists online and it can really hurt not only our income, but our motivation to create more art.

(2/2) it can even be harmful to japanese artists in particular because japan’s society is largely conservative (a fact a lot of westerners don’t realize), and it can ruin an artist’s relationships with family and friends. i appreciate that not only did you listen to concerned artists, but you did the right thing and owned up to any mistakes you made. i hope you have a wonderful day 感謝する！

The cultural differences are something that I would have never even imagined until @parisiansulfur explained them to me in detail. I wish I had known, because ignorance is no excuse for hurting people. But I can’t change the past nor can I have expected my past self to ever understand this without the help, so I think credit should all go to Paris and others who helped me. I can only hope I didn’t hurt anyone, and that if I did, that they can forgive me.

I have a question about the art from now dead sites, how are you supposed to link those? I’m just asking out of curiosity more than anything.

Honestly… I don’t know. If the artist can’t be found anywhere, then there isn’t much you can do. At that point I think it just becomes your personal decision. I can’t tell you if it’s wrong or right. On one hand, I don’t want artwork to disappear. On another, there might be a good reason the artist isn’t around anymore. I think you have to personally weight those two options, decide which you favor, and be prepared to defend your decision. 

If you’re having trouble sourcing a piece of art, maybe we can help? On my discord I have a “source hunting” channel. It’s possible that even though the site is dead, the artist or art is somewhere out there still. Even if the artwork itself isn’t, you might be able to contact the artist and ask if it’s ok to repost. Reposting is okay as long as the artist grants permission.

Consistent editing? What’s that? Here’s some raws from Toguro. I am having …. issues with certain page creases. Grr. (And my program not remembering the last settings I used…)

I’m playing around with how to edit these… I like leaving a bit of blue to them since the original images are super blue actually, but all black might be easier to see? *shrugs* We’ll see. For now, have some more raws!
