As hypothesized previously, Raizen was super whatever about the formation of his kingdom, so hundreds of years later this is why they are desperate for help if Mukuro or Yomi attack lol. In the meantime, the population has grown with the families and kids of all the random everyday youkai who originally signed up. Can umbrellas have kids? Don’t see why not if they’ve become demons. They could be like little tiny baby cocktail umbrellas.

For a visionary who had so many big ideas about the future of the Demon World, I always found Raizen super laissez-faire about everything. What kind of a continuity plan is sitting around waiting for your heir to kick your ass while two enemy powers grow more powerful?? Granted, we only meet Raizen when he’s technically in his final days and you could come up with all sorts of reasons why he was doing basically nothing. But as a result my impression since childhood was that Raizen lounges around in his tower with his grumbly tummy while Hokushin runs his ass off duct taping things so that the universe doesn’t fall apart.
