Your blog is a blessing for an old YYH fan like me T-T thank you for all the translated DJ’s and post! ♥ and I’m so happy this year will have new YYH content, the fandom will have been really loud if Tumblr had been around at that time this series aired…

It sure would have! Thank you for your kind message 🙂

So uh, on the last episode of yyh when everyone is playing in the ocean but just shizuru & Kurama are sitting and watching everyone? That’s mlm/wlw solidarity right there. The gays don’t want to get wet,,, LMAO sorry I just… an observation.

pfffff –

Yes, it is a well known fact that the gays do not like getting wet by ocean water.

Kuronue and Yoko headcanons ( or prefernces) for who tops?

Hmm… I tend to be of the “switching” persuasion, but I feel like Yoko would top most of the time, simply because he likes being in control. He can probably be a pretty good power bottom because of that, lol. I’d imagine once they got closer, Yoko would let Kuronue have a turn. Just because he likes him that much ❤

As for other headcanons… Hmm. I like to think that Kuronue’s death happened relatively recently in Yoko’s life. Perhaps Yoko disbanded his group of thieves, then went on to have just one partner for crime. Then, after his death, Yoko became reckless and thus was so easily slain.

Alternatively, Kuronue happened before Yoko met Yomi and had his band of thieves, back when he was more innocent and quicker to fall in love. Once Kuronue died, he decided that many acquaintances were better than one lover who could leave you… Perhaps Yomi’s recklessness reminded him of Kuronue, and it’s why he waited so long to get rid of him.

Either option is great, honestly.

One more headcanon I’ve never gotten over – Yoko gave that pendant to Kuronue. It was some small trinket, maybe with limited healing abilities, or Yoko just thought it was pretty. One of their first more intimate encounters ended with Yoko nonchalantly handing it to Kuronue, who fell in love with the gesture and with Yoko, and decided he’d never leave the pendant behind… That way, when Kuronue went back for it, Yoko could feel double guilty, and even more brokenhearted – because it was for him that Kuronue went back for the pendant. He want back because he loved Yoko so much he didn’t want to lose the gift he was given by him. And Yoko… well, he thought I’m here, don’t risk it for the amulet. I’m here! But it was too late, because Kuronue was too reckless…

Hey, I run the masterlist for the LJ YYH kinkmeme. I’m going to go through and clean up the completed prompts and to be completed etc See if people wont get back into it :D

Hi! It’s wonderful to finally speak with you! I’ve been lurking ‘round that kinkmeme for years now. I’m so glad you’re getting back into it! I posted a link to it on my Fanfic recommendation page, so hopefully people will see it more.

I would absolutely jump into it. Will it stay on LJ? Or be moved somewhere?

For those curious, this is the kinkmeme 🙂 It’s a beautiful place. People would post prompts and others would reply. As the name implies, it was a very dirty place 😉

What is one kind of yyh fic/doujinshi you have always wanted to see but never have? And what is one you wish there was more of because you can’t get enough/there isn’t that much out there?

Hmm… I think there might be two fics/doujins that I would love to see but haven’t.

One, I would adore a long, plot heavy, “falling in love for the first time” story for Kurahi done by Kitayama

image

Because just look at her wonderful art! And as it had been discussed on here previously, there are few doujins that capture the personalities of these two characters well. But Kitayama is a master at it.

Essentially, I’d love for Kitayama to do something like Arina’s Hiyaku series, only obviously more in character and less… well, evil. But that sort of length and level of plotting at least.

And another doujin I would love to see, which is incredibly rare, is a Genkai x Toguro one exploring their break up, their lingering feelings, all that. The closest I’ve ever gotten to seeing  a doujin about them that did anything similar to exploring their emotions was a single panel from a completely different pairing.

image

I would love something in the spirit of that first sentence and that face Genkai is making. A long, emotional, absolutely heart-shattering in depth character exploration of Toguro’s and Genkai’s state of mind during the tournament, memories of their shared and then diverging past resurfacing to give us a couple punches to the gut.

See, I’m a lover of literature and poetry. It’s not rare for me to become absolutely obsessed with a single line or dialogue and just extrapolate a million things from it.

So I would love if a doujin existed, with beautiful, somber art as Narushima’s up there, that explores these lines: “No, Genkai, but it would have been a beautiful life.”

So much packed into those words. Regret, acceptance, love, sorrow, nostalgia… I just want more.

I believe one of the greatest pains a human being can suffer is being stuck on the past, yearning for what could have been. The idea that our lives diverge from each decision we make, and that had we made a different one at a certain point in our lives, now that we know better, that our lives would look differently. Nostalgia, regret, eventual acceptance of an unchangeable past….  they are insanely powerful emotions. And I believe no anime characters exemplify those feelings better than Genkai and Toguro. I would love for someone to explore those emotions deeper.

As for what I’d love to see more, honestly, Narushima and Kitayama. They have amazing art, interesting, emotional stories, and have great grasps of the characters. If anyone ever comes across more from either of these two, I would love you forever if you shared ❤

If someone was like Yu Yu Hakusho getting a new anime you have to pick the Seiyuu to voice the Tantei who would you cast? ( Yoko Kurama can have a different voice from Shuuichi or the same one up to you)

charls-lamen:

yyh-revival:

Well, to be honest I don’t really follow things like voice acting. I focus more on story and character. That being said, I’d probably just ask the American dub crew to do it. I might change Kurama’s voice for something a bit softer? And I might have changed Keiko’s voice (only because I forever associate her voice with Fruits Basket) but otherwise, I’m quite happy with the dub and hearing other voices in their place would be strange to me, haha.

I do actually have headcanons for this because I’m bored and obsessed so I figured I’d list them

So…

First Kurama Mamoro Miyano

Link

He has has a very diverse range of types of characters he does. And his voice is the closest thing I’ve heard for the Kurama voice I imagine in my head.

The others are pretty hard for me since I like the original English dub so much.

But I think Daisuke Ono would do a decent Hiei. I used to watch the anime reviewer JesuOtaku alot and in one video ( can’t remember which one ) she said something along the lines of he’s good with portraying repressed anger. Which…ya ya he is .

Link

I think he’d make a decent Hiei.

Yuki Kaji for Yusuke

Link

His voice is a little higher than I prefer Yusuke to be ( James Cook was the perfect Yusuke tbh I can’t imagine anyone better). But I still think he’s close enough and can pull of being Yusuke in both light hearted and intense moments and Express it pretty well while still sounding like him.

Kuwabara is honestly the hardest for me to place. While I do love the English voice for him and thought it suited him it was a voice that was used to sound…I guess kinda dumb and over the top. The Japanese is much the same way but sounds very different. And he can be kinda dumb, but I also wanted portrayals where he could sound intimidating and bad ass too, but still be comedic and over the top

Link

While most of these show off the more serious side this guy is capable of doing much more light hearted funny stuff.

It’s like Yusuke it’s a bit higher than I imagine Kuwabara’s voice.

Actually the first person I thought Takehito Koyasu.

Link

When I think Kuwabara’s I think deep animated and distinctive and that for me is what Takehito Koyasu sounds like. He doesn’t quite sound like what I imagine Kuwabara to be but I can see him pulling it off really well.

But ….well he is supposed to be like 15 in the begining it might be a bit much giving the 15 year old this voice.

So ya thanks for listening to me nerd out ( with my very limited knowledge) about random voice actors.

Honestly I think Kurama isn’t thinking straight when it comes to seeing Kuronue again. I mean logically its weird for him to be bitter about Kurama leaving him when he told Kurama to leave. But I think Kurama pays attention to that less cuz he does feel guilty about Kuronue. So he feels like this is warranted and makes sense. Even though logically it kinda doesn’t add up. But it’s hard to get past his guilt and see that.

Very true. But also, if Kuronue did come back to life, he’d have a long time to think things over. Including why his corpse was never recovered by Kurama… So his initial reaction, to tell Yoko to save himself, might have turned to bitterness with time…

But yes, Kurama definitely is compromised. Which I think adds to the whole “they were totally banging” idea lol

NSFW ahead. The lack of Demon A/B/O dynamics is so tragic. Anyway I love this blog so much and I am so happy to have more people as invested in this anime as much as I am. Haha. Thanks for all your work with the fandom!

Thank you!

Okay, let’s get under the cut!

Ok, so, porn is porn. I will never judge or argue porn, because I am a nasty nasty trashcan and my reading/watching/drawing/writing habits are terrible and horrible and I live in fear everyday that someone will find out that I have **** and ****** and ******* kinks.

But I just never got into alpha/omega/beta fics. *Shrugs* I’m not a fan of whole societies structured so that certain people are on the bottom (in more ways than one am i right?!?!). If it’s one couple, or a few people, doing some kinky shit, then ok. But whole societies like that sort of freak me out. So the idea that all demons would be like this or have something like this be common among them makes me a bit uncomfortable. It’s just a personal taste, one of only like… 3? things that I am not a fan of when it comes to fanfiction.

So, I’m sorry, I wish I could help you out by recommending fics or something relating to that topic, but I can’t, haha.

Also, thank you very much 🙂 I’ve been here, lurking in the shadows, for years. I am very glad I’m not the only freak obsessed with a 20 year old anime.

Bottom Kurama Kurahi doujinshi? I feel like I almost never see it. Is that just me? Kinda weird since it’s so much more common in fanfic. Bottom Hiei is good too but Bottom Kurama I just prefer XD

Answered here!

I tend to prefer bottom Kurama, too, though I can go either way ( ha, bi jokes *finger guys*) . But yes, there is definitive a bias in doujinshi toward bottom Hiei. I’m not quite sure why. Perhaps the Japanese fandom prefers to base their shipping choices on heights and cuteness, whereas the American fandom favors putting all the bishies on the receiving end?

The one thing I did notice is that most, though not all, of these artists will also exaggerate the appearance of one or both of them. Arina Toshimi is more or less alright, Shou is alright half the time, Real/Tide does alright, too, but many, many, (…Maya… Kaoru…ugh) who will make Hiei smaller, more childlike, or extremely thin, and Kurama more manly looking. OR total opposite if Kurama is bottoming, where Hiei suddenly is 6 feet tall or Kurama is super feminine looking, like some soft, muscle-less, thin princess. It’s quite bizarre.
