Keiko is so tough. A 14 year old girl who has no idea what’s happening, has no powers, nothing, and yet she doesn’t break down and cry. She takes care of Botan and stays vigilant during g the attack.
Well, I am not sure about “real world” years, because the original run of the manga ran from Dec. 1990 – July 1994 (though Togashi started it in Nov. of 1990. So, if you want to say that – in the real world – Yusuke started his journey in 1990 and ended it 1994.
However, the timeline in the manga takes place of about 3 years(I like using the manga as my source for such things because I feel like it’s the purest version of the canon, so if there were things said in the anime that contradict the manga, I’ll try to include it – if I omit something from the anime that anyone thinks might be helpful, feel free to reply to this post or drop an ask).
Let’s see if I can try to break down the timeline in the manga (there’s no real concrete timeline for the main part of the series, but we do know that all the stuff after the Demon World Tournament takes place 2 years later). If you want to go with me down that rabbit hole, click on “keep reading” to do just that.
The earlier Dark Tournament would have taken place sometime during World War 2, 1940-1942. (Just imagine the implications of having that as well as the war in the Pacific at the same time…)
Sensui would have been a Spirit Detective during the early 1980′s, and the Black Black Club incident would have taken place between 1983 and 1984, given that Sensui was probably born in 1967 and he was shown to be 16 before he went insane and defected (as he is 26 in the main timeline).
Well, I’m going to annoy some people with this (IM SORRY SAPH SEMPAI PARIS SEMPAI) but I prefer Hiei on top, absolutely.
I prefer Hiei topping, though I do see them as vers, so Kurama would have his turn. And I prefer Hiei on bottom if it’s with Youko. But redhead Kurama? I’m sorry, I see him as a total bottom. He wants that thing in his thing.
On a more serious note, I feel like Hiei is a lot more closed in. He’s used to looking in from the outside and not being taken care of. I feel he’d be more comfortable starting out in a spot that isn’t so far off from his previous experience.
Someone who doesn’t trust easily and doesn’t give into others easily suddenly flipping and letting a very vulnerable, emotional side of him show just… doesn’t vibe with me?
I personally see Hiei as the kind who prefers to touch than to be touched. Even after getting more used to intimacy its like a personal preference thing.
Hiei for like a lot of scenes and promo material likes sorta hanging around Kurama like he doesn’t have to be so close to him but just is it feels comfortable. Which leads me to think that thet might not be at a stage where he is afraid of being intimate but he just has certain preferences.
Like for example i have a friend who loves being touchy feely hugging casual contact all that stuff. But she is weirded out if you do the same to her. Its not that she’s super uncomfortable but she likes it less.
Or like my dog he is constantly trying to lick other dogs but then runs away when other dogs try to lick him.
Good addition! I think preference definitely can be part of it. I’m similar to your friend. I’ll hug and cuddle and completely engulf my friends but I feel strange if someone does the same to me.
So Hiei might also be like this. Someone who wants all touches to be at his behest, so he would rather touch than be touched, when he doesn’t know 100% where or how the touch will go. If he’s doing it, he can decide how long, the pressure, the where, etc. If someone else touches him, he won’t know how long, where, how hard, etc. It’s safer.
For people who have issues with socialization in general, I think this might be common, that they prefer to be the ones in control of physical contact.
