"This wind coming in feels like home. It's comforting and it soothes me." A place for people who consider YYH home! Also home of the YYH Doujinshi Masterlist. Let's revive this fandom!
Anon, don’t ever apologize for feeling. It’s the natural state of a human to feel. As to hardening your heart… Don’t.
Trust me, kid. Even with all those years behind me, I couldn’t do it. I was a hopeful thing, when I was young. As I grew older I became cold and cruel…
And life seemed to mean nothing anymore. Then that dimwit came around, and with him, all the pain of my past. And I suffered. And I screamed and I yelled. Until I realized I didn’t want to anymore. I faced my past, my suffering, and it passed me by… I was at peace.
You will face many sufferings in the future. You likely have faced many already. It won’t stop, not for a long time. But you cannot give up. Hardening yourself will only hurt you more. It will shut you off from the other half of the equation. For each shadow, there is a brilliant light. You must learn to balance these. If people hurt you, stop for a moment. Sit down and breathe. Think of nothing else but your breath… then, like an observer from the outside, look at your life.
Where does it hurt? Why does it hurt? Was I at fault, or someone else? Be objective. Be from the outside, calm, and collected…
…Like a gentle river, just let your thoughts flow, from question to question, but never stirring too much, never rocking the boat.
Then ask yourself, is there a way to fix this? Can I do it now, or must I wait? Is there nothing I can do at all? Then react accordingly. Attempt to fix what is broken; leave what is unmovable. Do not harden, become flexible. Channel the gentle river, and like water, resist those who push at you too harshly. Punish those who disturb the surface. But open yourself to those who simply pass by, with respect and no intention to disturb your peace. And you might even find those who wish to dive deeper, find all your secrets in those dark depths. Let them. Let yourself be open to the positive light that will find you. If you become too dark and murky… no life will grow. Let that light in, selectively. Learn to control your shadows, to part them at will to be gentle, and to cast them to become cruel, when needed. But never become just one thing. Don’t become unmovable stone.
Stone is brittle.
But a river… it flows ever on. It can crash against the hardest mountainside and turn it all to sand over time. It can flow around obstacles without worry. It can smack against you and crush your bones… and it can be a cool and refreshing breath for a weary traveler. Don’t be the brittle stone. Don’t break.
Be the river.
Or don’t. I’m not your life coach. But I’ve crushed many stones, and seen many more be turned to sand. And once you’re sand, you can be blown away by the gentlest of winds. Be a river, and it’ll be you who crushes others to sand.

I have the week off from school and am working on translations. Knocked out the Top 4 from the poll today. While waiting for @logicheartsoul to put pages together, I am having fun with scratching off the doujinshi’s inside cover. Yusuke’s box says, “You are my goddess! Bang!”
(Proper scans & translations to follow soon.)
I had no idea that they were scratch offs, that’s so cute!
Genkai technically gets hit with the ‘depowered for a man’s growth’ trope but this is immediately followed by her continuing to KICK ASS in the Dark Tournament bc her depowered self is still amazing.
Mod Lola agrees wholeheartedly! I never saw the transfer of the spirit wave orb as that trope because she went and not only beat Shishi and Suzuka, thus assuring Team Urameshi made it to the finals, as an 70 year old depowered grandma, but she also went right after that to fight Toguro. While she lost badly, the fight was still amazingly epic, and her words of wisdom from that fight have stayed with this mod forever!
It’s depressing af but also friendship saves the day
Tru dat
… the story and characters tries to break the mold for what is common in the shounen genre.
Very much in agreement! I have always loved shonen anime/manga, but YYH broke so many trends that I couldn’t help but fall in love. Not just tropes in shonen, but in the Hero’s Journey in general. Yusuke’s mentor is an old lady, not an old man. Mukuro bends all sorts of gender rules with her nonchalant attitude towards being called king and her appearance. Botan, the “main” girl doesn’t get with the “main guy.” Yusuke’s friends actually become weaker when he dies, demoralized. Instead of getting a power boost of pure rage, they mourn him, their heads not in the game at all.
I could go on for days!
What keeps me loving the series for all these years has been the personality dynamics between the main four guys. Without their balance and the way everyone plays off of one another, YYH would run the risk of becoming just another shonen fighting anime.
Very much so! The four boys play off each other very nicely, each having a unique, interesting relationship with each other. They’re not all just Goku-worshipers; they love Yusuke, yes, but they also have loyalties to each other. They’re a true group, a true team, not just Yusuke and his buds.
When I was younger I loved the action. Now I love it for nostalgia.
This mod can relate. It’s my comfort anime.
I’ll update again when there’s more fun stuff said in the survey!
After a million years, here’s the latest Kurama release! The other releases should come out soon. Do be sure to check my blog since the next 4 will be uploaded here.

When I went out to check the mail today, to my surprise, my stuff from Amiami showed up!
The keychains are bigger than I thought they were going to be and I was surprised the back was going to be clear but colored. I do like the gradient on the Youko & Hiei one. The way the back is makes me afraid something might scratch it and the paint for the pictures will be affected, so I might try to seal with something to make it scratch proof.
The Hiei plushie is less cute and more grumpy Hiei but honestly that makes it just as cute. Not to mention he’s very soft XD.
I have to figure out where to put my keychains but I’m just so glad that Kazuma has merchandise AND it’s cute!? That never happens.
I’m still waiting on my Yoko & Hiei, I’m glad to see they’re starting to get shipped out!
